About the artist: Karl Kaufman was born in 1843 in Silesia. Graduated from the Vienna Academy of Arts. Travels in Northern Europe (Norway), Holland, Germany (Franconia, Danzig, Konigsberg) and Italy (Naples, Rome, Venice) gave him inspiration for numerous landscapes. From 1900 he lived permanently in Vienna. He often signed his works using pseudonyms - C. Charpentier, J. Holmstedt, Charles Marchant, R. Merkner, B. Lambert, oder J. Rollin, H Carnier, etc. Today, most of the artist's paintings are privately owned.
