  • Description:Antique Amethyst Seed Pearl 10kt-12kt Rin, Sz. 7, 1800's-1920's. This ring is beleived to be 12kt but to be safe calling it 10kt. It test s strongly at 10kt and fades slightly at 14kt. It has been my experience in these older rings that it is 12kt (not gold filled but gold as that was used back then more frequently than now. This has a rectangular amethyst stone that is appx. 10mm by 8.5mm. It is held with twelve prongs. There is a halo around the amethyst with 21 seed pearls that are appx. 2mm on average. They have prongs as well. This has a somewhat closed undercarraige and side frame that has eight prongs that wrap over the edge of the ring at the pearls. The top of the ring is appx. 16.3mm down the finger and 14mm across the sides. the band is 6mm at top where it has a decorative accent and tapers to 1.8mm at the back of the finger. This is marked with an R inside on the band. The ring weighs appx. 4.56 grams. I cannot give the exact carat weight as the stone cannot be completely measured in the setting. It is estimated at a minimum of 2 tcw on the amethyst. This is a beautful piece from the past. (RJ61226.38X5 SS17853 J LD 6/15/26).
