Sykes (18671945), one of the great scholaradministrators, undertook his first Persian journey a sixmonth horseback tour in 1893. He was appointed British consul for Kerman and Persian Baluchistan the following year. He continued to travel widely in the region during a succession of similar postings, "earning his reputation as an authority on Persian history, geography, and customs" (ODNB). A fictional tale which the author intended to be "a second Hajji Baba, which would serve as a true picture of Persia some ten years ago, before constitutional reform appeared on the horizon. " The story is set in Kerman and Baluchistan and is the tale of a pilgrimage to Mashad. Sykes was the British Consul General in Mashad at the time of writing. Size 6 by 9" Text in English
