Taxco‚Äos long mining history‚Äîfrom tribute paid to the Aztecs through Spanish extraction and later prosperity under Jos√© de la Borda‚Äîprovided the high-grade silver that made Spratling‚Äos workshop influential, with substantial weight and purity marking authentic early pieces. Spratling also trained many future masters, including Antonio Pineda, H√©ctor Aguilar, and the Castillo brothers of Los Castillos, while supporting notable women artisans such as Margot de Taxco and Victoria Brilanti, helping define Taxco‚Äos golden age of silver design.
