Description
Vesta cases are small portable boxes made to contain matches and keep them dry. They take their name from the Roman goddess of fire and the hearth, although in the United States, they are more prosaically known as match safes. Although these handy containers are rarely seen today, match safes were extremely popular from 1850 to 1915.
The back has a soldered loop so that it can be worn as a pendant.
It weighs 18.16 grams.
