Description
67 x 78 This is a hand-pieced and hand-quilted patchwork quilt featuring an X or Criss-Cross block pattern. The quilt top is constructed from a variety of printed cotton fabrics in multiple colors and patterns including florals, polka dots, and geometrics. These blocks are organized into vertical columns separated by solid pink cotton sashing strips. The entire piece is finished with hand-quilted parallel lines. The backing is particularly notable, as it is composed of several repurposed flour or feed sacks. Visible manufacturer stamps on the reverse include a circular logo for the Royal Milling Company with text reading Superlative Self Rising Flour Bleached. Other partial stamps on the backing include Spring Rooster Johnson and Delight White. The interior batting appears to be a thin layer of natural cotton.
