Description
A mid-20th-century American handmade patchwork quilt featuring a classic eight-pointed star motif, often referred to as a LeMoyne or Sawtooth star variation. The quilt is constructed from a diverse collection of cotton scrap fabrics, including solid tones, various floral prints, striped patterns, and a distinctive black-and-white houndstooth check. These star blocks are set within a sashing of white-ground calico fabric decorated with small red floral clusters. The piece is entirely hand-assembled, showcasing hand-pieced patchwork and hand-quilting in a simple running stitch. The quilting follows the geometry of the stars and incorporates parallel horizontal lines across the sashing. The textile is finished with a thin interior batting and a plain off-white cotton backing. No maker's marks, labels, or signatures are present.
