Description
This mid-20th-century American patchwork quilt features a string-pieced block design organized into nine large squares. Each block is subdivided into four quadrants, with each section filled with diagonal strips of assorted scrap fabrics including floral calicos, ginghams, stripes, and solid colors. The color palette is varied, featuring shades of blue, green, black, yellow, and pink. The blocks are joined by wide pink sashing and framed with borders of pink floral calico and a coordinating zig-zag patterned fabric. The piece is hand-quilted with prominent white running stitches in a simple grid pattern across the entire surface. The reverse side is constructed from large panels of solid yellow-tan and gray fabrics. Materials include cotton and cotton-blend textiles with cotton thread. No maker labels or signatures are visible.
