Description
This vintage American patchwork quilt, dating to the second quarter of the 20th century, features a repeating Maple Leaf or Autumn Leaf pattern. The quilt top is composed of individual blocks with a black cotton background and pieced leaf motifs in shades of dusty rose, slate gray, and olive green. The blocks are separated by horizontal and vertical sashing in a pale peach cotton fabric. The three layers are secured together with numerous hand-tied knots of yellow yarn rather than decorative quilting stitches. The reverse side is made of a two-tone pink and purple checked cotton fabric. The leaf panels are constructed from a mix of cotton and potentially weighted silk or rayon blends, while the sashing and backing are cotton. The internal batting is visible in areas of wear and is cotton. Dimensions: Not provided.
