Description
66 x 76 This handmade scrap quilt features a grid of patchwork squares constructed from a variety of mid-20th-century printed cotton fabrics, including florals, ginghams, plaids, and novelty prints. The patchwork is set within sashing of gray and dark blue cotton fabric, arranged to create a repeating pattern of stylized cross or plus sign motifs across the surface. The reverse side consists of a light mint green cotton fabric with a small-scale, multi-colored floral print. The piece is entirely hand-quilted in a decorative fan or clamshell pattern and is finished with a light green cotton binding. The fabric selection includes materials characteristic of the 1930s through the 1950s, commonly referred to as feedsack prints.
