Description
A vintage double-sided quilt top or lightweight coverlet featuring a nine-patch layout on both sides. The construction consists of a 3x3 grid of large blocks, each composed of a checkerboard pattern of smaller multi-colored fabric squares. The blocks are separated by wide sashing in a solid bright turquoise blue. This piece is entirely machine-sewn, utilizing a prominent zigzag stitch to join the individual squares and the larger blocks. It is constructed from two finished patchwork faces sewn back-to-back without internal batting or traditional quilting stitches. The materials include an assortment of printed cotton and synthetic-blend fabric scraps featuring 1960s and 1970s-style floral, calico, and geometric patterns.
