"There's no place like home." The pierced brass top incorporates the phrase within an attractive decorative framework accented by thistle motifs and flowing Arts & Crafts-inspired ornament.
Raised on graceful cabriole legs, this piece would have been used near the hearth as a kettle stand, warming stand, or footman. Today it makes an excellent decorative accent, plant stand, riser, or display platform.
Comparable examples have been attributed to Archibald Kenrick & Sons and date to the late nineteenth century. The motto translates loosely to "Home is best," a sentiment that contributed to the popularity of these decorative household pieces.
