1930's This beautiful cotton 30's double wedding ring quilt is all hand pieced and hand quilted, with an unusual solid blue background and attached provenance: "Mother maiden name Lucille Gray born March 29, 1913; Father name Thomas Henry Gray, Jan 1910; Mother pieced quilt together, her aunt Julie Hardy [her mother's sister] quilted it for her and she gave this quilt to Tom before they were married June 18, 1932." The quilt came out of Kentucky.
It measures 76" X 90" and is in excellent condition, with a couple of light age spots and no wear. The quilt feels strong and sturdy overall.
There is hand quilting around the piecework and in ripple and diamond designs in the background, all at 6-7 stitches to the inch.
The back is white, the hand stitched binding is solid yellow, and the batting is thin.
