Description
This 1890s Hubley Brand Eagle Toy Stove is missing items. Two doors and warming plate cover along with two burner covers. It does have the coal bucket and cooking pot. The larger one was designed to be a fully functional toy wood or coal-burning stove, made by the Hubley Manufacturing Company of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Manufactured in 1890, this would have been the antique version of the Easy-Bake Oven. The stove is made of cast iron with a nickel-plated finish (which has since worn off). The large one was a wood or coal-burning stove for your children to play with!! John Hubley had enjoyed designing toys for his children. He founded his company in the 1890s, producing cast-iron toys.
The "Eagle" stoves came in a variety of models and sizes. This is the smaller version of the six-burner stove with a rectangular warming plate on the right side of the stove top. All the plates are removable, and the round plates (missing two) are interchangeable. The interior of the stove is clean; it has a damper opening on one side of the stove. The Front of the stove has 1 opening door center. Two detachable side wings, the one on the right, is missing one tabs which connect it to the stove (it has been modified so that the wing still looks like it is attached. The chimney chase is also removable; it is missing the two doors (one is provided but no way to attach it unless you super glued it).
The set includes the original cast-iron pot and coal bucket.
The stove measures 11 1/2"H to the top of the chimney x 12" W with detachable side wings x 5" Deep. Weighs 6 pounds. This was not a salesman's sample; this was a child's toy on a grand scale. These miniature stoves are one of the more highly sought after by collectors.
