Description
WWII Trade Union leader. President of the International Federation of Trade Unions from 1928-45. He declined an offer to join Churchill's wartime coalition government but was central in mobilising workers for the war effort. He also acted as Churchill's personal link to the trade unions in the US and the Soviet Union.
