Description
The Acrylic painting on Canvas on Cardboard titled "The radiance that Illuminates heart" is a deeply symbolic work that merges spirituality, mysticism, and landscape into a single visual meditation. The composition is dominated by a palette of deep and serene blues, which immediately immerse the viewer into an atmosphere of quiet reflection and otherworldly calm. The painting is not only about depicting a place but also about evoking an inner state of contemplation, where the boundaries between the earthly and the divine dissolve in luminous harmony. In the foreground, to the left, stands a solitary, hooded figure cloaked in black, holding a candle that burns with a soft, golden flame. This small yet powerful light becomes the focal point of the scene, a fragile spark against the vastness of the landscape, yet one that carries immense symbolic weight. The figure, faceless and anonymous, seems more like an archetype than an individual-a monk, a pilgrim, or perhaps even the embodiment of the searching human soul. The flame it holds is not merely a physical light but a representation of inner faith, spiritual truth, and the quiet radiance of the heart. The background unfolds into a grand panoramic view of mountains and water, painted in layered shades of indigo, sapphire, and violet. The mountains rise in undulating forms, their cold surfaces softened by ethereal hues that suggest both the quiet stillness of night and the illumination of dawn. In the midst of this landscape stands a white church with a blue onion dome, its cross barely visible against the sky. The church appears almost dreamlike, floating on the crest of a hill that overlooks the waters below. It is distant, untouchable, yet central to the composition-a beacon of divine presence and the destination of the soul's inward pilgrimage. The waters that stretch across the middle ground act as a mirror, reflecting both the light of the sky and the symbolic purity of the church. Within them, a small white swan glides serenely, reinforcing the themes of peace, transcendence, and spiritual transformation. The swan, often associated with grace and the soul in flight, echoes the candle's flame in its whiteness, reminding the viewer of purity and renewal. It becomes a living metaphor for the heart illuminated by faith, moving steadily across the river of life.

About the artists: Alexander Gukalov
After graduating from Lviv Polytechnic, he was engaged in scientific work. In his free time, he studied the works of Plato, the poetry of the ancient East, and religious works. At this time, resistance to the routine of life and utilitarian science arose in him; he became interested in man and his secrets. Alexander decided to end his engineering career and become a humanitarian. Since 1990, he began to write and publish philosophical poems. Later he decided to devote himself to painting, a passion for which began during his years of study at the Lviv Polytechnic with caricatures and caricatures of classmates and teachers.
Since 2017 he has been painting with oil paints. Alexander does not have a formal art education, but he is convinced that the craft and talent of an artist do not directly depend on professional education. The artist's works are characterized by completeness of composition and depth of meaning. He is not afraid to work with different themes, his paintings are true modern art that touches people. The artist's portfolio includes landscapes and views of his favorite cities, portraits of pop stars, politicians, athletes, relatives, and animals. "I draw a toga when I feel the need for it. Therefore, I cannot say that I work in some narrow direction. Rather, it is a call from the soul," the artist says about himself.
