Description:ERNEST FREDERICKS (aka ERNEST T. FREDERICKS) 1877-1959. Original oil painting. Landscape with River and Waterfall, Circa 1930s/1940s, 24" x 36" oil on canvas (framed size: 30" x 41-1/2") signed lower left: Ernest Fredericks. Signature is light and hard to see and appears partially obliterated. The painting is as found, as is: Has a patched tear in the middle green tree, light stretcher bar line at top of painting, light edge wear, frame has nicks and discolorations.
Frederick "Ernest T. Fredericks." Swedlun was born in 1877 in McPherson, Kansas. He studied at the Chicago Academy of Fine Art and exhibited at the Chicago Art Institute and in the All-Illinois art shows. In Chicago, he created the pseudonym Ernest T. Fredericks and was known for his regional landscape paintings. Later he moved to Eureka Springs, AR where he resumed using his birth name and where he and his son taught art classes.
