At the focal point of the composition is a woman, and the title suggests a narrative of a patient waiting or lingering in a particular state of being. The title, "She Tarries," carries a sense of expectancy and serenity. It hints at the idea that the woman in the artwork is immersed in a moment of pause, perhaps awaiting something or someone, or simply savoring the stillness of the present. The word "tarries" implies a deliberate delay, creating a sense of suspended time that adds depth to the emotional atmosphere of the piece. Ife Kalejaiye's portrayal of the woman is likely to be rich in details, capturing not just her physical presence but also the nuances of her expression and posture. The artwork may convey a story beyond the visual, prompting viewers to ponder the reasons behind her pause and the emotions that might be hidden beneath the surface. "She Tarries" stands as an exploration of the beauty found in moments of quietude and anticipation. It prompts us to reflect on the significance of taking a breath amid the hustle of life and appreciating the poetry in waiting. Ife Kalejaiye's work becomes an invitation to engage with the complexity of human emotion and the profound narratives that can be woven into the simple act of tarrying. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity (Issued by the Gallery) About Artist Kalejaiye Ifeoluwa is a self-taught contemporary Nigerian visual artist based in Southwest Nigeria, who started by drawing commissioned pencil portraits, but with an ardent desire to to do more by enacting his creativity to address socio-cultural realities. His intention of creating art is to portray the tussle and ordeal of the typical black people as a product of their society, a story he is eager and inspired to relay until it no longer needs to be told, of which such expectation is unarguably a castle in the air. Ifeoluwa strongly believes his art can spur social change and help people conceptualize their space by looking inward to realize how unique they are amid their struggles while holding the belief that we all have a common ground. Working as a mixed media artist mainly with charcoal and acrylics, his art process is drawing with layers of charcoal on canvas while carving into the skin to depict our vulnerabilities with harmonious colors.
