Description:This Bark Cloth was made in the Bada Valley, a remote highly significant archaeological site in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia surrounded by Lore Lindu National Park. This finely crafted piece is made by boiling the inner bark of small trees related to mulberry, and then hammered with stone tools to create a thin fabric like material, which is then painted like a mandala using colored ink. Traditionally this shaped cloth is folded to make a tri-cornered hat worn by men in marrage ceremonies.
