His stippling technique and nearly invisible brushwork distinguish his work among the most refined of his generation. Clare exhibited at the Royal Society of Artists, Walker Art Gallery, Royal Academy, and Royal Society of British Artists. His paintings have been auctioned by prestigious houses such as Bonhams, with top sales exceeding $21,000 USD.
