Bio:
Gunnar Nylund (1904-1997) was one of the most influential Swedish-Danish ceramic artists of the 20th century. As artistic director at Rorstrand from 1931 to 1955, he developed his distinctive matte feldspar glazes, hare's fur glazes, and the well-known stoneware animal figures. Born in Paris to artist parents, he co-founded the Saxbo studio with Nathalie Krebs before beginning his long association with Rorstrand. He later worked with glass and was also connected with Nymolle. His work is characterised by assured proportions and advanced glaze techniques, combining industrial production with a strong artistic identity and playing an important role in the development of Scandinavian ceramics.
