Bio:
Zsolnay was founded in 1853 in Pecs, Hungary, by Miklos Zsolnay and was later elevated to international prominence by his son Vilmos Zsolnay (1828-1900). The factory is especially renowned for its iridescent eosin glaze, introduced in 1893, as well as pirogranite, a frost-resistant ceramic material used for architectural ornamentation. Zsolnay became a hallmark of European Art Nouveau and later Modernism, and the factory remains in operation in Pecs today.
