Decorative figural group in faience with iridescent eosin glaze in green and golden tones. The motif depicts a girl standing before a chicken on a rectangular base, designed in a stylised Art Deco manner.

Origin: Hungary.
Material: Faience with eosin glaze.

Bio:
Zsolnay was founded in 1853 in Pecs, Hungary, by Miklos Zsolnay and later developed into an internationally renowned manufactory by Vilmos Zsolnay (1828-1900). The factory is especially celebrated for its iridescent eosin glaze, introduced in 1893, and for pirogranite, a frost-resistant ceramic used for architectural ornamentation. Zsolnay became a hallmark of European Art Nouveau and later Modernism, and the factory remains operational in Pecs today.
