Description
This photograph exemplifies Frederick Sommer’s fascination with found objects and symbolic assemblage. Against a backdrop of weathered metal, disparate elements including doll limbs and industrial fragments are arranged to suggest a fragmented human figure. At the center, a complete doll positioned upside down introduces themes of birth, transformation, and renewal. Through this carefully constructed composition, Sommer transforms ordinary objects into a psychologically charged and visually enigmatic image.
