Description
Published in Spring 1944, Hit Comics #31 is a desirable Golden Age issue from Quality Comics, one of the premier publishers of the era. The striking cover by Alex Kotzky features Kid Eternity in peril with dramatic wartime-era imagery, while interior artwork includes early work by legendary cartoonist Harvey Kurtzman, years before he revolutionized the comics industry with MAD magazine. This issue stars Kid Eternity, one of Quality Comics' most enduring supernatural heroes. Introduced during the Golden Age, Kid Eternity possessed the unique ability to summon famous historical and fictional figures to aid him in battle, making the feature one of the more imaginative superhero concepts of the 1940s. The issue also contains additional adventure stories typical of Quality's acclaimed anthology titles. Professionally graded CGC 5.0 Cream to Off-White Pages, this copy presents very well for an 80-year-old Golden Age comic. It also bears an authenticated signature from Butch Patrick, the actor best known for portraying Eddie Munster on The Munsters. While the signature is not authenticated or designated on the CGC label, it provides an interesting crossover collectible for fans of classic television and horror memorabilia. A scarce wartime Golden Age comic featuring Kid Eternity, early Harvey Kurtzman artwork, and exceptional display appeal, making it an attractive addition for collectors of pre-Code, Golden Age superhero, and Quality Comics material.
