Partly-printed D.S. ‘Macdonald’, 1p. 4to., Paris, April 17, 1802, a promotion of an unidentified gentleman to the position of Chevalier in the Order of Charles III of Spain. Very boldly signed, tipped to a larger sheet and bearing an area excised at bottom left which has been carefully restored. WITH: EDOUARD CASIMIR MORTIER, DUC DE TREVISO (1768-1835) French general and Marshal of France who served in the Netherlands, Meuse and on the Rhone. Killed by the ‘internal machine’, an apparatus of 25 musket barrels firing at once and intended for King Louis-Philippe. A.L.S. ‘Ed. Mortier’, 1p. large 4to., Paris, Feb. 14, 1817, to an unidentified gentleman requesting his brevet and a certificate about his service as Knight of the Royal Order of the Legion of Honor.
