Description
(1734 - 1818) Revolutionary War major general serving at Trenton and Princeton, commanded Ft. Ticonderoga, President of the Continental Congress and first governor of the Northwest Territory. Good content D.S. 'Ar. St. Clair', 1p. 12 x 3.5 in., Bedford Co., Pa., July 16, 1772. As Justice of Bedford County, St. Clair makes a sweeping order commanding that the sheriff arrest twelve men and women in his jurisdiction for 'divers Felonies Trespasses and other misdeeds within the said County perpetrated...' for which they had been indicted. Slight uneven toning, a pinhole in the text, otherwise very good.
