ABOUT THE ARTIST: Gurin Vasyl Ivanovich - was born on 18th of March, 1939 in the Pervomayskoe village in the Crimea. He studied at the Simferopol Art College and the Kyiv State Art Institute. Teachers: Pysanka N., Trokhimenko K., N. Storozhenko. After graduation, he continues his study at the Academy of Arts of the USSR under with Sergiy Grigoriev. He works in the field of easel painting. Since 1965, he takes part in republican, all-Union and foreign exhibitions. Since 1968 - Member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine. Since 1969, he teaches at the Kyiv State Art Institute. Since 1983 - Associate Professor of Painting, since 1987 - Professor, and since 1997 - Academician. In 1977 he was elected to the Board of the Union of Artists of Ukraine, and from 1997 to 2005 he was chairman of the Kyiv department. In 1979 awarded with a title - Honored Artist of Ukraine. In 1992, Vasily Ivanovich was awarded the title National Artist of Ukraine. The artist's works are presented in museum, gallery and private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
