ABOUT THE ARTIST: Sokolenko Grigory Olexandrovich - was born on April 17, 1928 in the Vesely Kut village, Mykolaiv region. Graduated from the Dnepropetrovsk Art School in 1949 and the State Academy of Arts of the Latvian SSR in 1955. Mentors: A. Skride, J. Tilberg. He worked in the field of easel painting, and monumental art. Participated in republican exhibitions since 1964. The artist was a member of the initiative group to create an art museum in Zaporizhzhia. He became the first director of the institution. The museum was founded in the absence of a basic collection, so the artist was actively involved in the acquisition of funds. Major works: "Life of the Pioneers" (1959); "Modern interplanetary radio communication", "Radio serves people" (1965); "Spring Song", "Hercules", (1966), and others. The painter's works are widely represented in many public and private collections both in Ukraine and abroad.
