The tool is constructed from a heavy cast iron body, steel cutting components, and wooden handles including a rear tote and front knob. This example retains its original Stanley lever cap but features a replacement cutting iron manufactured by Sargent and Company. The plane is equipped with a brass depth adjustment nut and a lateral adjustment lever. Visible markings include the word BAILEY cast into the toe, MADE IN USA cast behind the front knob, and No 7 cast into the heel. The lever cap features the STANLEY name in relief.
