Description
21x21x6 An electro-mechanical self-winding wall clock produced by the Self Winding Clock Co. of New York. The clock is housed in a square wooden case, likely mahogany or a similar stained hardwood, featuring a circular bezel opening. The white painted dial is marked SELF WINDING CLOCK CO. NEW YORK below the center arbor and features black Roman numerals with an outer minute track. The interior movement is constructed with brass plates and gears, incorporating twin solenoids designed to wind the mainspring using battery power. The assembly includes a strike mechanism with a large brass gong. A separate box accompanies the lot, containing the clock hands and an additional solenoid motor component. These clocks were historically used in offices and public buildings, often synchronized by master clocks via telegraph lines.
