Title: Nice-Matin newspaper cover - Rêverie au Pays Bleu - Carnaval Carnival 1967Description: Nice-Matin - Vendredi 10 février 1967 - Rêverie au Pays Bleu'. The Nice Carnival, held annually in February or early March in Nice on the French Riviera, is one of the world’s major carnival events. Its origins date back to 1294, when Count Charles of Provence mentioned celebrating the carnival. Reinvented in 1873 under artist Alexis Mossa, it became a vibrant parade featuring satirical floats, masquerades, and competitions. Today, it spans two weeks, drawing over a million visitors. Each year, a theme is chosen to inspire 18 papier-mâché floats and figurines. Day and night parades fill the streets, while "flower battles" occur on the Promenade des Anglais, making it a colourful and festive spectacle. by Gus. Published 10 February 1967.
