Title: Lorraine. Lotharingiae Nova Descriptio by Abraham Ortelius c1598 old mapDescription: Lorraine. Lotharingiae Nova Descriptio [A new description of Lorraine]. Lorraine, between Luxemburg and the Vosges, now roughly corresponding with the departments of Moselle, Meurthe-et-Moselle and Vosges. The map is orientated towards the east . Ab. Ortelius excudebat. Published c1598. Large folio late 16th or early 17th century uncoloured engraved map. Size 37 x 54 cm | 14.5 x 21.0 inches. Condition: Good; suitable for framing. The map has been mounted on thick laid paper, likely during the 19th century. As a result, the original verso is not directly visible; when held to the light, no evidence of printing appears on the reverse. Some manuscript annotations, however, are discernible. Light toning. Manual annotations. Please check the scan for any blemishes prior to making your purchase. There appears to be nothing printed on the reverse side, which is plain save for some manual annotations. The map has been backed on thick paper - see condition note. Tags: 1598, Composite atlas of 17th century Dutch & Flemish maps, France | Gaul, Lorraine, Luxemburg, Map, Ortelius Abraham, Vosges
