The 1968 Tour de France, the 55th edition of the race, was held from 27 June to 21 July 1968 and covered approximately 4,492 km over 22 stages, including several split stages. The race was won by Jan Janssen, who became the first Dutch rider to win the Tour de France. Janssen secured victory by a narrow margin after winning the final individual time trial. The podium was completed by Belgian rider Herman Van Springel in second place, with fellow Belgian Ferdinand Bracke finishing third. The mountains classification was won by Spanish climber Aurelio González, while the points classification was taken by Italian Franco Bitossi. The team classification was won by Spain.
