No. 4480, first edition, prepared from a pre-War 1937 German map and reproduced with U.S. Army engineer assistance, with September 1944 War Office print code. Issued at the moment the European Advisory Commission was formalising the plan for the occupation of Germany and the joint administration of Greater Berlin, the map belongs to the cartographic apparatus behind the September 1944 London Protocol and its annexed Berlin “Map B.” It shows the city not simply as a future battlefield, but as a territory to be occupied, divided and administered by the victorious Allies. .
