Description

An exceptional mid-19th century Hungarian folk painted pine wardrobe, dated 1857, retaining its original red painted surface with vibrant hand painted floral decoration throughout, the single-door cabinet adorned with stylized tulips, flowering stems, heart motifs, and foliate designs painted in shades of green and black against a deep red ground; 70⅛ in. high, 43⅝ in. wide, 21⅞ in. deep. Age-appropriate wear to the surface and paint; repair to the back left leg.
