Title page with two small patches (restorations) Occasional foxing, stain on the outer margin of the last leaves. Full vellum binding, some wormholes to the back cover. With old bookseller's label "Alvaro Garzon. Librero Anticuario" at the back pastedown Some period marginalia Second, enlarged edition, printed by Giolito de' Ferrari, a famous and prolific printer, of the most important work of the learned Florentine humanist, a pupil of Machiavelli. Size 8 1/3 by 12 1/4" Text in Italian Bartolomeo Cavalcanti (1503-63) was a Florentine nobleman, diplomat, translator, and orator and was an opponent of the Medici. He served the Republic (1527-30), went into exile (1537), and spent his remaining years working for the Este and Farnese families. Please see my other auctions
