Description
What do they talk about?'. This wonderful whimsical pictorial map, published for the Festival of Britain, illustrates the common topics of conversation. As the map notes "most people talk about the place where they work… prices.. the government". Some topics are very much of the moment - "The Brabazon"; "Our New Power Station" - others are of their era and reflect the industrial and agricultural nature of the economy at that time (The Mill, The Pit, Wool Prices), while other topics remain ever present (The Weather) . Prepared under the direction of Professor E.G.R. Taylor and designed by Cecil Walter Bacon. Published 1951. 20th century pictorial map. Size 67 x 47 cm | 26.5 x 18.5 inches.
