These maps, most of which are by Pieter van den Keere, are known as "Speed miniatures" because they were published in pocket versions of, coincident with some editions of, and containing much common content with Speed's own atlases, by Speed's own publishers; and the title page states the miniature version to be "from a farr Larger Voulume Done by John Speed". Although often attributed to John Speed, it is believed that Speed's actual involvement was limited at best . Pieter van den Keere [Petrus Kaerius].
