City of York - Sheet 9 - [York Minster Precinct - Southam Bar - Monk Bar - The Medieval Streets - Shopping Area - Aldwark - North of Lord Mayor's Walk - Monkgate - Layerthorpe - Hungate - Lord Mayor's Walk - Gillygate - Museum Gardens & Exhibition Square]. Large scale map sheet of part of the City of York, England. The survey was conducted 1849 and 1851 by Captain Tucker R.E. for the Ordnance Map Office. The original map is drawn at a scale of five feet to one statute mile (1:1056). It is highly detailed showing, for instance, the layout of the pews in each church. The map was published in 21 separate sheets in September and October 1852. Each sheet was sold for 2 shillings. These map sheets are now very scarce . Surveyed by Captain Tucker R.E. Engraved under the direction of Captain Yolland R.E. at the Ordnance Map Office, Southampton. Published 1852 - Surveyed 1851. Published 1852 (This date is included on the Ordnance Survey blind stamp which is present at the top of most of the map sheets in this series). Large elephant folio folding hand coloured large scale five-foot-per-mile survey sheet. Size 66 x 97 cm | 26.0 x 38.0 inches. Condition: Good; suitable for framing. Split to lower part of centrefold, old repair with tape on front of map; reinforced on back. Please check the scan for any blemishes prior to making your purchase.
