The County of York Survey'd in MDCCLXVII, VIII, IX and MDCCLXX, engraved by Thomas Jefferys, Geographer to His Majesty MDCCLXXI // [A View of Fountains Abbey] // A Plan of Scarborough. The title sheet from Thomas Jefferys' twenty sheet map of the County of York, featuring a detailed town plan of Scarborough with ornate cartouche, and a view of Fountain's Abbey. This is the final, south east sheet of the set, and the topographical detail of the county is restricted to part of the Humber Estuary including Spurn Head at top right. . Surveyed 1767-1770 by John Ainslie, engraved by Thomas Jefferys 1771 and published post humously by Jefferys 1772. Published Engraved 1771, published 1772 (dated). Antique folio topographical map sheet. Size 62 x 60 cm | 24.0 x 23.5 inches. Condition: Good; suitable for framing. Old repairs verso have been made using non-archival tape.
