Text panels note the presence of United States armed forces, the March 1944 D-Day rehearsal, and the importance of the Cavendish Laboratory in the development of radar and of Ernest Rutherford's contribution to the development of the Atomic bomb. Heraldic devices, institutional crests, agricultural annotations, and inset views add visual richness. At lower left, the map features a quotation from Winston Churchill beginning, “But all depends now upon the whole life-strength of the British Race in every part of the world…”, reinforcing its patriotic and commemorative character. .
