Decorative colour pictorial map of the Cotswolds, drawn and painted by Roger Ellis, signed in pencil lower right. The main map extends from Bath and Bristol north to Gloucester, Cheltenham, Chipping Campden and Chipping Norton, with towns, villages, roads, rivers, hills and commons delicately rendered. Around the map Ellis adds charming vignette views and motifs: Cotswold stone cottages of Arlington Row, Bibury; the view from Cleeve Hill, Lower Slaughter on the River Eye, Chipping Campden’s Market Hall, the Long Stone at Hampton Fields, the south porch of Malmesbury Abbey, and a pastoral ploughing scene. A geological/topographical cross-section along the lower edge traces the west-east profile from Cleeve Common towards Great Tew. A comparatively recent publication, but uncommon. by Ellis, Roger. Published Dated "Magnetic Variation in… 1995". Printed colour vintage illustrated map, signed by the artist. Size 34 x 44 cm | 13.0 x 17.5 inches. Condition: Good; suitable for framing.
