Description
This is an authentic antique "Dandy" hand-crank glass butter churn. Produced primarily in the early 20th century, these household devices were a staple of rural life for quickly transforming cream into fresh butter.Key Characteristics & MechanicsCast-Iron Assembly: The upper mechanism features heavy cast-iron frames housing an oversized drive wheel and small pinion gears. The "Dandy" Branding: The distinct name "DANDY" is embossed clearly along the iron support arm right next to the hand crank.Mechanical Design: Turning the wooden handle rotates the gears, spinning the internal shaft at a much higher speed than the hand rotation.Internal Paddles: It features interlocking, four-fin wooden paddles designed to vigorously agitate heavy cream and separate the solid butter fats from the liquid buttermilk.Square Glass Jar: The base is constructed from heavy-gauge glass molded into a square shape, which prevented the cream from simply spinning in a continuous circle and aided the agitation process
