This poster was produced for Eric Clapton and his Band playing with Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble and The Robert Cray Band for two nights in August 1990 at the Alpine Valley Music Theatre in East Troy, Wisconsin. The following day, Vaughan and Clapton played an all-star encore jam session at the same venue. It was a star-studded night of blues music, and Vaughan's performance was particularly memorable as he was riding high on the success of his recent sobriety and the critical acclaim for his latest album, In Step.
After the concert, a Bell 206B Jet Ranger helicopter was chartered to transport some of the musicians and crew back to Chicago. Vaughan took an open seat on the helicopter originally reserved for Clapton's entourage. Minutes into the flight, the helicopter crashed into a nearby ski slope. All five people on board, including Vaughan, were killed instantly. Though that final show is not advertised here, these were two of Vaughan's final performances, giving this poster much historical significance.
