This chromolithograph by Eric Ravilious (British, 1903??"1942) is titled Hams and was originally published as part of the High Street series in 1938. The print depicts a busy butcher shop counter with two attendants behind piles of poultry, surrounded by many rows of hanging hams. The style features Ravilious's characteristic use of texture and a color palette consisting primarily of yellows, blues, and oranges. The piece is housed in a custom black-finished wooden frame with a decorative notched inner border, an ochre-colored textured mat, and a thin dark blue inner fillet. The verso includes framing receipts from House of 10,000 Picture Frames with handwritten identification of the artist and subject, as well as a note referencing Covent Garden.
