The print details an aerial view of a grand estate with formal gardens, outbuildings, and surrounding landscape. Originally published in 1707 as an 80-plate volume, and expanded over the next few decades, Britannia Illustrata (or Views of Several of the Queens Palaces as also of the Principal Seats of the Nobility and Gentry of Great Britain) is considered one of the most important topographical books of the 18th century. Framed in a dark wood molded frame with some textured finish.
