This finely executed miniature architectural view belongs to the celebrated series of Company School drawings produced circa 1836 by Indian draftsmen of the Delhi School working under the Office of the East India Company's Superintendent of Public Buildings and Ancient Monuments at Calcutta.

Rendered with remarkable precision, the work depicts the monumental façade of a Mughal mosque in the restrained yet highly detailed style characteristic of Company School artists, who combined traditional Indian techniques with European conventions of perspective and topographical accuracy.

Comparable drawings from this important series are preserved in the collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. Presented in a double mat and an attractive camel bone frame.
