This 1963 CA 1-cent bronze coin is a multi-strike mint error featuring a major off-center second strike. The piece was produced at the Royal Canadian Mint and is composed of a bronze alloy. The obverse features the laureate portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with the legible inscription ELIZABETH II REGINA. The reverse displays the twin maple leaf design with the date 1963 and the inscription CANADA. The minting error consists of a primary centered strike followed by a second strike that is approximately 40 to 50 percent off-center, which has resulted in a significantly elongated and distorted flan. The coin is housed in a vintage cardboard 2x2 flip with handwritten notations on the front reading 1963 - 1 cent - CANADA and DOUBLE STRUCK. The reverse of the flip contains handwritten provenance for Nick Myschuk of Wildwood, Alberta, along with historic pricing or inventory notes. Uncirculated. The coin retains significant original red-orange mint luster with areas of natural mahogany toning. No evidence of circulation wear is visible on the high points of the design. The physical distortion and elongation of the flan are inherent characteristics of the off-center striking error.
