The coin is housed in a vintage cardboard and plastic window flip with handwritten notations identifying the piece as STRUCK ON 1/2 A PLANCHET and bearing the name ARPIN -. Due to the reduced thickness of the planchet, the strike is significantly weaker than a standard circulation strike, resulting in shallow relief and faint design elements. The surface texture is dark and porous, characteristic of the internal grain exposed by a planchet split.
